Yesterday afternoon Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr George W. Vella, received the ambassador designate of the United States of America who presented her Copie d’Usage. Ms Glenna Kathleen Hill, will be presenting her credentials to the President of the Republic of Malta on Thursday 25 February 2016. 

In welcoming the Ambassador, Minister Vella underlined the need to further strengthen economic and commercial relations between the two countries.  Minister Vella and Ambassador Hill also had an exchange of views on the current political situation in the Mediterranean and the Middle East particularly with regards to the situation in Libya and Syria.

Minister Vella thanked the designate Ambassador for the excellent relations between Malta and the United States of America mentioning particularly the cooperation and help extended in connection with the migrants relocation programme, and augured that relations between the two countries be taken to a higher level.
