An elderly man from Zebbug, charged with violently resisting arrest and refusing to obey the police after they told him to stop spoking inside a PN club in Mqabba, has denied the charges.

The 65-year-old, Michael Farrugia, was also charged with being drunk in public, threatening a police officer, and breaching the peace.

The Court heard that the police received a call one afternoon, at around 4pm, about excessive noise coming from the PN party club.

Upon entering, the police spotted Mr Farrugia smoking inside. After approaching the accused, and indicating that he should not smoke indoors, an argument began.

The court granted the accused bail against a €6,000 personal guarantee.
