Total arrivals and nights spent in collective accommodation establishments during January 2016 increased by 1.1 and 0.8 per cent respectively compared to the corresponding month in 2015, the NSO said today.
In January, total arrivals in collective accommodation establishments numbered 73,336, while total nights spent amounted to 410,581. Collective accommodation categories registered increases in total nights spent, with the exception of 4-star and 3-star hotels.
The largest share of guest nights was reported in 4-star hotels, accounting for 204,786 nights, or 49.9 per cent of the total.
The average length of stay in collective accommodation establishments stood at 5.6 nights during the month under review, at par with January 2015. The net use of bed-places stood at 38.6 per cent, down by 0.1 percentage points when compared to the corresponding month last year.
On a national level, there were 143 active collective accommodation establishments during January, with a net capacity of 15,825 bedrooms and 34,977 bed-places.
