Sister Lidia, a nun who was believed to have been the oldest living person in Malta, died today aged 107.

Sister Lidia Formosa of the Sisters of Charity was born in Victoria on 12 March, 1909. She joined the congregation 84 years ago.

During World War II she worked at the Central Hospital in Floriana and then continued with her work as a nurse at St Vincent de Paul Residence for the elderly.

For the past few years she lived in the Sisters of Charity convent in Balzan.
