Economy Minister Chris Cardona asked the PN whether those participating in the PN loan scheme are mentioned in the Panama leaks.

The Economy Minister, together with Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Roderick Galdes, held a press conference and said that Opposition Leader Simon Busuttil, who recently organised and took part in demonstrations against corruption, ignored the information which was released in yesterday's batch of the Panama Papers. He said he was referring to PN MP Francis Zammit Dimech, PN President Ann Fenech and Richard Cachia Caruana.

Minister Cardona said that this is a clear case of "Simon Busuttil's double standards".

Responding to questions by journalists, he first said that those involved in setting up these companies are accomplices, however in a later question said: "We never said that a person having a company in panama is corrupt". He said that this is something that Simon Busuttil keeps on repeating. He said that by Simon Busuttil's measure, whoever is even remotely involved in the Panama Papers is corrupt and should be made to resign. 

Minister Cardona chose not to say whether he agrees with a minister having a company in Panama or not, and rather chose to just say that it was "a politically insensitive decision, but not illegal."

He also asked if the PN leader knew about Zammit Dimech's involvement in the offshore companies and what actions will he be taking.
