The international community must see how to better aid Turkey after the bombings which took place at an airport in Istanbul, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said.
He described Turkey as a friend of Malta, and said they cannot be left alone by the international community.
He said that Turkey is playing a role in Syria. "Turkey is normalizing its relations with Israel and Russia, and this is important. Turkey is working to stabilize the region," he said.
As for the security situation during Malta's Presidency, Dr Muscat said that this is handled by the Malta Security Services group, who release reports to see the level of vulnerability in the country. While nobody is invulnerable or exempt from being subject to peril, all the information we have shows that there is no indication that there is any sort of peril to those in Malta.
"If this situation changes, I will be the first to inform the public. We have no information that indicates we could be put in a more vulnerable situation because of our Presidency. We will continue monitoring the situation throughout our Presidency".
