A 20-year-old woman sustained grievous injuries after being hit by a car in Ħamrun early on Sunday morning.

The accident happened at around 3am in Triq Nazzjonali, when the woman was struck by a Ford Tourneo driven by a 47-year-old man from Eritrea who lives in Ħal Tarxien, police said.

The woman received medical assistance at the scene before being taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where she was certified as having suffered grievous injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
