Maltese Australia-based boxer captures WBA Asia Super Lightweight title

Maltese Australian based boxer Haithem Laamouz has continued his winning streak in New South Wales, capturing the WBA Asian title after a thrilling 10-round bout against Sebastian Singh.

'Flash' Laamouz, 26, extended his winning streak to 7-0 after the bout on Saturday which saw him win on all the judges' scorecards. This was a step-up in class for the Maltese Super Lightweight fighter, who known for his dazzling hand speed.

Laamouz has worked hard on his power since relocating to Bateman's Bay, under the tutelage of respected trainer Nudge Mieli. In his last outing, he scored a stunning knockout against Will Sands for the Vacant New South Wales Super Lightweight title. The knockout was not to be had this time, but Laamouz also showed great conditioning to go to 10 rounds for the first time in his career. The 'Flash', who is based in Bateman's Bay will be back in Malta to take on Borislav Gligoric on 5 August.
