Marlene Farrugia calls for national coalition to take Malta back from 'Putinesque parasites'

Wednesday, 17 August 2016, 12:58 Last update: about 10 years ago

Marlene Farrugia, the leader of the Democratic Party, has called on the PD, the PN, the AD, the “true PL” the environmental NGOs and civil society to form a coalition and take back the country from the “parasites” in control of the “Putinesque” government.

In a hard-hitting Facebook post, Dr Farrugia said the country is being vandalized under the umbrella of a law that is not really a law, with the blessing of institutions that have become one and the same with the government.

People are angry in silence, she wrote. “Being angry is not enough to keep this government from snatching another legislature and another one after that. It is not enough to keep governance from degenerating into a Putinesque, Xiesque, utilitarian, soulless and undignified style."

“All those opposing this deceit have to join together into one political force, determined to put our country back on the path of good governance – what we dreamt about and voted for three years ago. This is the moment. If we do not join forces now the hijacked Labour government will keep steamrolling over everyone and win (the election.)”

“Imagine the arrogance of the clique currently hijacking the PL if the party wins another election. Our institutions, already futile talk shops that only deliver decisions taken by above, will keep degenerating until they go silent and bow down to totalitarianism.”

Dr Farrugia continues: “NGOs and civil society cannot do this alone. The PN cannot do this alone. The AD cannot do this on its own. Neither can the PD or the other small parties. The remains of the true LP cannot reclaim the workers’ party from the clutches of these parasites on its own. We can only do this as a national coalition. There is no time to lose. We need to join forces now and head towards the next election prepared with one call – to reclaim the country back from the national, environmental and historical void this government wants to bury us in.”

Dr Farrugia called all these factions to use their heads, put prejudice aside and put the country first.

“Nothing is dearer than seeing our children inherit a country they recognize, one that gives them roots, identity and recognizes them as its children. Our future is in our hands, if we use the present wisely.”
