British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson will be visiting Malta tomorrow, The Malta Independent has learnt.

Asked to confirm, the British High Commission said that it cannot comment about the travels of the British Foreign Secretary. However, sources say his travels to Malta were planned beforehand, but the actual date was never confirmed.

This newsroom has a copy of an invitation for a reception which will take place tomorrow at the British High Commission’s residence in San Pawl tat-Targa. Mr Johnson will be the main guest at the event.

Mr Johnson was one of the biggest supporters of Brexit. He used to serve as mayor of London and was touted to become UK’s new Prime Minister after David Cameron resigned when the result of the Brexit referendum became known. However, Johnson decided to withdraw himself from the race and Theresa May was later elected UK’s new Prime Minister.
