This new romantic novel recounts the story of a newlywed couple, which shortly after the honeymoon magic, starts to encounter the hurdles of marriage.

The husband is overcome by his urge to expand his business and also by disrespectful attitudes that made him show a lack of appreciation and indifference towards his wife.

In order to save their marriage, she had no other alternative but to remain silent and adhere to whatever her husband requested of her, especially after the birth of their daughter.

Moreover, since during the first years of their marriage she had to stay at home to raise their child, her living depended completely on his earnings. This put him in an even more dominant position. He did not give his wife the dignity she deserved by exercising psychological, moral and, most of all, emotional domestic abuse over his family.

She felt enslaved, humiliated, voiceless and inferior to other women. She no longer experienced love, respect and appreciation that every faithful wife deserves from her husband. To him she was only a servant who was around the house just to do the cooking, washing and tidying up. She was only useful to look after the house, to take care of their daughter and to prepare his clean clothes. It was as if she was good for nothing else.

But to avoid trouble at home so that the family could remain united, and most of all, so that her little girl would not suffer, his wife remained quiet and kept everything to herself. She simply endured it all in silence all the suffering which she entombed in the darkest corners of her broken heart, until...

Until at long last, after so much suffering and pain, a ray of light came through - warm and strong, which brought new hope to the misery in which she was enslaved. It was a promising bright light that could let her breathe fresh air and experience once again the lustful emotions, breathtaking passion and erotic sweetness of true love...

But was her torment over yet?

Like in his previous two bestselling novels Preżenza - Inti Temmen fil-Ħares? and Ix-Xafra tad-Destin - L-Imdina 1565, author Michael Cini recounts this third novel in the first person with the use of short chapters, specifically to help the reader become better acquainted with the characters and with the flow of events.

As this romantic novel unfolds, the reader often feels as if he/she is part of the story itself, with the urge to discover even further what will happen next, making it difficult for the reader to put the book down. The author insists that these ingredients help him reach his primary aim, which is to encourage more people to read in the Maltese language. The use of idiomatic expressions and flowing language, together with an occasional touch of humour, makes his writing more entertaining and literary useful, for anyone seeking to enjoy a good book in Maltese.
