A campaign by the police about the dangers of drink driving must have pushed many to be careful on New Year’s Eve, as only six drivers were caught to have misbehaved during random checks carried out by the police.
During last night, 738 vehicles were inspected during road checks that were carried out by the Police in various locations around Malta, the police said.
54 contraventions of various traffic rules were noted, six of which consisted of drivers driving under the influence of alcohol, 7 who were driving without seatbelts, and unlicensed vehicles that were not insured.
