The Malta Independent spoke with a number of business owners who have made a living through the attraction of the fallen Azure Window, also known as The Dwejra Window.

One restaurant owner, who’s establishment is called the ‘Azure Window’ said that they would not be changing the name, as it will help the memory of the iconic structure live on.

Two kiosk owners said that right now there are more people visiting the area than ever, with tourists expressing their sadness at not getting to see the attraction, and others simply visiting out of curiosity to see the site for themselves, as though the window never even existed.

One particular kiosk owner suggested rebuilding the window, in order to remind people of what stood before it. Asked how the government could do this, he remarked that so many great structures are built by man, that something could definitely be built in its stead.

The Azure Window collapsed on 8 March following a night of particularly tempestuous and stormy weather. Locals were shocked to find the great structure had seemingly disappeared, with no signs of its previous existence.
