Government approves extension for inquiry into Gozo police political interference claims

 Government has approved an extension request by Lawyer John Vassallo, who was appointed by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat to head the investigation into allegations that two senior politicians interfered in a drug-related Gozo police case.

The allegation, which was revealed by MaltaToday and took place in 2014, claims that two senior politicians interfered in a drugs investigation by the police.

The allegation claims that the men were able to change their statements after two government officials intervened.

The Office of the Prime Minister, in a statement released on the 26 of February, ordered an inquiry and now the investigation will be concluded on 5 April.
