National Commission for Active Aging launched in Gozo

The National Commission for Active Aging in Gozo was launched today by Parliamentary Secretary for the Rights of People with a Disability and Active Aging Justyne Caruana.

The members of the Commission include Mr Joe Camilleri, Ms Gemma Zammit, Mr Emanuel Grima, Ms Marita Buttigieg, Ms Antonia Sammut, Professor John Pace,  Mr Amand Veranneman and Chev. Joe M.Attard.

According to a press statement, besides listing the roles of this commission, Dr Caruana spoke about the challenges which the commission would be facing. She mentioned the changing demographics of Gozo, which is predominantly linked to aging, as well as the execution of the National Strategy of Active Aging.

She said that with Gozo's particular demographic challenges, participation of Gozitans would help ensure that Gozitans age in adequate environments, as well as in a society which knows how to understand them and help them live a dignified life.
