Yesterday members of the Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS) discovered a large illegal cage trap for Turtle Doves close to Gharb on Gozo, a statement read.

The trap contained 25 live Turtle Doves which were subsequently confiscated and released into the wild by officers of the Gozo Police.

WBRU enforcement officers also assisted in the operation. CABS praised the authorities for their quick reaction in this case.

The video, which was attached with their statement, also contains footage of a Turtle Dove which was shot in Safi and found dying by a CABS team this morning. Turtle Doves may not be shot or trapped in spring.
