Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said today that he will not factor in the Egrant inquiry into the considerations he will be making on choosing the date of the election.

Speaking to journalists, Dr Muscat said that he is serene that the Egrant inquiry will not uncover any wrongdoings. It is a fabricated story and a week has passed without anything concrete coming to the light of day, he said.

“I will decide on the date of the election in the best interest of the country,” he said, adding that his preoccupation is that the country continues to move ahead from an economic point of view.

He said that he is convinced that the regulator of the Individual Investor Programme is doing its job well.

He welcomed the agreement reached on the minimum wage increase, saying that it will be signed on the same day that the Coalition of Confusion was set up, referring to the announcement that the Nationalist Party and Partit Demokratiku have joined forces.

The people will now choose whether they want to be led by Joseph Muscat and Edward Scicluna, or Simon Busuttil and Marlene Farrugia, the PM said.
