Zaren 'Tal-Ajkla' Bonnici, kicked off his election campaign in front of a 500 person strong crowd.

Ever the showman, Zaren opened and closed the meeting with his own rendition of his party's anthem to a cheering audience in Ghaxaq.

He lambasted the two major political parties for failing to tackle corruption.

"How many politicians have been sent to prison for corruption? None."

He further criticized the Labour Party for being unable to lead a country.

"Alfred Sant could only rule for two years, Joseph Muscat for four, can none of you lead the nation?"

"Who is the laughing stock?" He asked "Joseph Muscat!"

He went to say that Dr Muscat is coward who has never contested in his district.

"Instead he comes down here to steal your votes!"

Even Alternattiva Demokratika was not spared from a Zaren zinger.

"AD have done nothing in thirty years! Look how many people there are here today. They could not even get a sparrow to attend their meetings."

Calling himself the Leader for the hunters, he pledged to ensure that the hunting season be open all year round.

He also promised to remove ministerial cars, insisting that 'ministers should buy their own cars like the rest of us.'

With 'King' emblazoned on his hat, Mr Vassallo told the crowd to use their minds and not vote for the "stupid people who mock you."
