16 police officers were today promoted to the rank of Sergeant. This brings the total number of promotions to Sergeant in the last four years up to 183.

The promotions were meted out in the presence of Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela and Police Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar.

Thirteen of the newly promoted Sergeants are men while three are women.

Mr Abela spoke on the ongoing reform within the Malta Police Force, which focuses heavily on the human resources aspect.
