No Portfolio Minister Konrad Mizzi was given centre stage for the first time since the election campaign started, addressing the Labour crowd in Birzebbuga three days before the political activities end ahead of Saturday's voting day.

Mizzi has been almost completely absent from PL events, cobtrary to what happened four years ago when he was the face of New Labour. But his being named in the Panama Papers, alongside OPM chief of staff Keith Schembri, which was one of the reasons why Prime Minister Muscat was forced to call an early election.

He has not attended any of the morning press conferences held by Labour, thereby keeping away from any awkward questions, and was only given the microphine tonight in a comfort zone, at a distance from journalists.

Addressing the evening, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said Birzebbuga benefited from the closure of a heavy fuel oil power station. Besides the benefits affecting this locality, the Prime Minister said that the government has managed to make a difference to every family in Malta and Gozo.

He said that there is a growing danger that the people who caused the serious problems in Malta, might be voted to reign. "Those who have created the problems, can rarely find the solutions."

Dr Muscat said that the success achieved by this government, is not his, but the success of every voter who voted for PL in the last election.

During the event, a video was shown of the Swedish Prime Minister endorsing Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, thus being the third country leader, or former leaders to endorse Dr Muscat.

The Prime Minister said that from every testimony broad forward, there is evidence of proper progress in basically all sectors. Dr Muscat appealed for those who voted for the first time four years ago. “We did a lot of mistakes, but we did a lot of good,” he said.

In hia address, Mizzi, who was given a very warm welcome by the party faithful in Birzebbuga, said that all that he has done in these four years was to give a better life to the public. He said that Joseph Muscat’s plan was very clear, to improve Malta’s air quality.

"We will go on with our excellent work to improve the quality of life for the people in this area. We wanted to address the concerns of residents," he added.

John Bencini, MCESD Chairman also spoke during the activity. He said that Joseph Muscat was very keen to increase the minimum wage and praised him for thinking of the very small in our society. Mr Bencini said that he did not want this measure to become political football, and that is why he named it as a national document.
