Call for drone pilots to assist in search for two missing men

Sunday, 13 August 2017, 15:30 Last update: about 8 years ago

A call for drone pilots to help in the search of two men who went missing has been issued this afternoon. The pair were last spotted riding their bicycles on Friday afternoon.

Rescue teams have been left scratching their heads after fishermen found two bags containing clothes, mobile phones and shoes at around 5am this morning, but the two bicycles are nowhere to be seen.

The fisherman spotted the bags at around 5am this morning in an area known as Blata tal-Melh. The bags are believed to belong to the two missing boys, a Maltese national named Nick Johnson from Birzebbuga (above, left) while the other is a Serbian national, 21, named Mark Petric (right).

As wind speed continued to increase over the past few days, the sea has turned rough, leading to fears about the possibility that the pair had decided to go for a swim.

Searches by the police together with the Armed Forces of Malta are ongoing.
