Apart from contributing to traffic issues, the heavy rains that Malta has experienced over the past few days have caused havoc to the drainage system.

A video uploaded by Mario Seguna on Facebook shows two fountains in Zabbar and on the road leading from Zabbar to Marsascala, where the system could not cope with the amount of rainwater.

A person inside the car can be heard commenting, with a chuckle, about the “waterfalls” and “fountains” on Maltese roads which, of course, has made driving even more dangerous.

Drivers should take extra caution in these circumstances and, as the police have said, should also avoid low lying areas.
