Zebbug scored two second half goals to return to winning ways and beat Melita to move to second place in the standings, just a week before the important derby clash agaisnt league leaders Qormi.

Zebbug were the better team against lowly Melita, who suffered their fifth defeat in six matches.

Melita still fresh from their important victory against Rabat in a direct relegation clash had a very good first half in which they shared the exchanges with their opponents, but fizzled out after suffering two quick goals early in the second half.

Zebbug had more of the ball in the first half, but they did not worry Grima in the Melita goal.

Their only dangerous shots came from Suda in the opening stages and from a Gusman header just before the break.

Near the end of the first half Melita went close with an Axl Xuereb freekick going slightly over the bar.

A minute into the second half Zebbug broke the deadlock when Alexander Kovacic scored a great goal when he lobbed the ball over Grima.

Melita had no reactioln and Zebbug doubled the score on 53 minutes when Kurt Zammit scored a well taken goal with a shot on the turn from the edge of the area.

Zebbug controlled the match with relative easy and could have added further goals near the end.

Sirens scored three goals in the second half to turn defeat into victory against Marsa to move further up in the table.

For Marsa who are still in search of their first victory this was another setback as they now face relegation trouble.

Sirens had a good start creating some scoring opportunities in the process but Marsa took a surprise lead against the run of play on 23 minutes when Jimenez connected to a Pirotta cross to put Marsa in front.

Sirens had an immediate reaction but were unlucky when a Giovanni Galea header finished against the upright.

However Sirens started their comeback on the hour when striker Daniel Agius who is having a great season, scored from close range following a Ryan sciberras cross.

On 66 minutes Sirens took the lead thanks to an incredible and classic own goal from Melvin Busuttil who fired into his own net in an attempt to clear.

On 69 minutes Sirens sealed the issue with a third goal, agains cored by Daniel Agius, this time after a powerful run that left the Marse defenders gasping
