Prime Minister Joseph Muscat this evening stressed the importance of young people being at the forefront of the national reforms being undertaken.
At the Annual General Meeting of the Labour Youth Forum, Muscat referred to "radical reforms" such as same-sex marriage and the granting of the vote to 16 year old, in which the Labour Youth Forum was an active player.
Muscat said urged youths to not be complacent: "We cannot stop here," he said while stressing how the Labour Youth Forum needs to work to convince both the Labour Party internally and society at large about the reforms it envisages for the country.
Muscat also insisted on equality when it comes to IVF, saying that once marriage was now equal that it was not correct to say that one couple can have IVF and another cannot.
Another reform mentioned was that fostering more female representation in Parliament, saying that next year the party's like-minded LEAD initiative will begin to bear fruit at the Local Council and European parliamentary elections.
The meeting also held minute silence in memory of Charles Miceli, who passed away today.
