Swieqi Phoenix were officially crowned First Division champions in the Women's Category after they ended their season with an unbeaten clean sheet after defeating Zabbar St. Patricks 3-0.

Throughout the match, the newly-crowned champions showed much of the volleyball that has characterised their game this season, with efficient distribution by setter Mariana Zammit Munro, and effective attacks and serves by the whole team. During the first two sets, despite Zabbar's attempt to counter Swieqi's challenge, particularly through Kimberly Grech's attacks, Swieqi Phoenix' have kept their focus to close the sets and match with more than a 9 point lead.  The first two sets ended 25-16 and 25-14 while the third set was closed with a score of 25-9. Following the match MVA President Jesmond Saliba presented the First Division trophy to the Swieqi Phoenix team.

In another encounter from the same category Mellieha played against Mgarr. The wolves started the match with an offensive attitude giving no time for Mellieha to retaliate. The girls obtained a comfortable advantage during the first set, allowing coach Micallef introduce both Tanti and Abela to the game, ending the first set 25 - 8. In the second set Mgarr started off with a different formation, nonetheless the second set was closed with the same score of 25-8 in Mgarr's favour. The 3rd set started with Mellieha gaining a 2-point lead, however the momentum shifted quickly and Mellieha were incapable to react. Mellieha's captain Gatt Barberi delivered an array of services and managed to score 6 points consecutively. The set and match was closed shortly after with score of 25 - 9.  In the other match from the 1st Division, Fleur De Lys beat Birkirkara 3 - 0.

The game was the last from a memorable 1st Division league which saw Swieqi Phoenix finish in the top place, Fleur De Lys second and Mġarr third.
