MFSA issues warning about entity named Stocksbtc

Thursday, 5 April 2018, 15:28 Last update: about 7 years ago

The Malta Financial Services Authority (“MFSA”) today issued a warning about an entity operating under the name “Stocksbtc”, which is known to have an internet presence at https://stocksbtc.com/, and which, according to information available to the MFSA, appears to be offering investment and/or other financial services to consumers.

“Stocksbtc” claims on its website that it is regulated by the MFSA under registration number 2017/871. This assertion is false as there is no entity registered with the Authority under either the name “Stocksbtc” or registration number 2017/871, MFSA said.

“Stocksbtc” indicates that it operates from the Dragonara Business Centre, Dragonara Road, St Julian’s, Malta, although the MFSA understands that “Stocksbtc” is not a tenant at that address. The MFSA wishes to alert the public, in Malta and abroad, that “Stocksbtc” is NOT a company registered in Malta NOR is it an entity licenced or otherwise authorised by the MFSA to provide any type of financial services which are required to be licenced or otherwise authorised under Maltese law.

The MFSA strongly advises investors and consumers of financial services that prior to making any investment or entering into any financial services transaction they should ascertain that the entity with whom the investment or transaction is being made is authorised to provide such services by the MFSA or another financial services regulatory authority as applicable.

A list of entities authorised by the MFSA is available from the MFSA and can be viewed on the official website of the MFSA at http://www.mfsa.com.mt/pages/licenceholders.aspx
