‘It’s the PM’s laptop that the police need, not my mother’s’ – Matthew Caruana Galizia

Matthew Caruana Galizia, the son of murdered journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, has insisted that he does not know where his mother’s laptop is.

Caruana Galizia also mused that the prime minister’s personal email server might have been used to plan his mother’s assassination.

His Facebook post came after Malta Today reported on Sunday that that the police have filed a court application asking the inquiring magistrate to take possession of the laptop after they realised that the one collected from the Caruana Galizia household was an old one.

The newspaper said inquiring magistrate Anthony Vella had confirmed receiving such a request from the police but could not say whether he had asked the Caruana Galizia family to hand over the laptop.

After the publication of the story, unknown individuals started putting up banners asking why someone was “hiding” the laptop. The banners were seemingly put up to counter banners that have been installed around the island by several activist groups.

In his Facebook post, Matthew Caruana Galizia wrote:

“I would burn my mother’s laptop in front of the police, if I knew where it was.

It’s the prime minister’s laptop that the police need, not my mother’s.

Joseph Muscat, where is your laptop? Where is the laptop and the private [email protected] email server that you could have used to plan the assassination of my mother?”
