The Maroons returned to European football after a 45-year wait with a bang as they defeated Sant Julia 2-0 in Andorra.
The result virtually puts Gzira through to the next round, as they now start as firm favourites for the second leg Ta’ Qali next week.
Gzira took the lead through an Amadou Samb penalty on 20 minutes and new signing Jorginho doubled the score three minutes from time.
Just before the break Sant Julia had a good opportunity to equalise but they missed a penalty.
