"We are not taking away a single warrant" from teachers, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo said in a video message to celebrate the occasion of World Teachers' Day.

Bartolo said that for him, everyday was World Teachers' Day as he knew that for dedicated teachers there are no holidays and that they truly dedicated their lives to working amongst the children and youths entrusted to them.

This year's theme is 'The right for education means the right for teachers, for a qualified educator, well-trained teacher or educator', Bartolo said before adding that it was well known today how important it is for teachers to attain their qualifications and necessary training.

Bartolo said that the ministry did not want to remove any warrants, in fact they wanted to bring more youths into the vocation and to work professionally within the education sector.  The ministry said that they wanted to make sure that the warrant being given is kept as it is and that everything is done to keep strengthening the profession.

The minister said that those who ready the law properly will see that it absolutely does not suggest in any manner that people will be losing their warrants.  He said that they want to continue working to help each teacher and educator in their work, and that they wanted to protect them from violence and threats that they may encounter in their work.

Bartolo said that the ministry wanted to continue working to help educators in their work, as it is on their work that the future of so many children and in turn the country will be built upon.
