No reports of Maltese citizens hurt in Strasbourg incident

On Tuesday night, 11 December, at around 8pm local time, a shooting attack unfolded close to Strasbourg’s famed Christmas market, near one of the central squares, Place Kléber. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion wishes to inform that so far there are no reports of any Maltese being among the victims or injured in the attack.

The ministry is closely following the incident and is in constant contact and coordination with Malta’s Embassy in Paris, the Permanent Representation of Malta to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg as well as with the French authorities.

While the ministry advises all Maltese who are currently in Strasbourg to follow local authorities’ instructions, it also wishes to inform that both the Embassy of Malta in France and the Permanent Representation of Malta to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg are ready to offer any help to Maltese nationals.
