Naxxar Lions obtained their third consecutive victory defeating a sorry Marsa side by three clear goals. This victory puts Steve D'Amato's side in fourth place in an unexpected recovery, leaving the relegation zone behind.
Marsa's fate is now almost sealed at the end of the first round, with only one win and ten defeats.
Joel Ellul put the Lions in front on 27 minutes, scoring from close range after a good Naxxar move. Marsa failed to react and Naxxar were in full control.
However the Lions had to wait till the 57th minute to double the score through Mead Mifsud, and seven minutes later Joel Ellul sealed the issue with his second personal goal.

Gudja United scored two goals in the first half to beat Mqabba and consolidate the thrid place in the standings. For Mqabba, now under the guidance of Alfred Attard, this was yet another defeat as they are now in relegation trouble having collected just one point in their last seven outings.
Dhonatan Santos da Hora scored Gudja's two goals, with the second goal a real beauty first timing home a Cremona cross from the right. Gudja dominated the first half and deserved their two-goal lead, but Mqabba came back strongly in the second half, but they lack punch and their best chance came from a Da Silva Gomes header on 70 minutes.
