MASTERS FOOTBALL MALTA made history when they held the first ever international tournament in Malta. Besides being well orgaised, the team gained another success finishing as winners. The tournament was sponsored by VASSALLO GROUP.
Befoe the start, competitors and all had a big surprise when HE the President of Malta, Marie Louise Coleiro made a visit to meet all the teams. Then photos with all the teams followed, and after declaring the tournament 'officialy opened'. Players, officials and committee members were impressed with her friendlyness. At the end, teams, players and commitee members contributed and collected in all the total sum of 500euros which will be presentd to the Community Chest Fund.
Five teams took part, amongst them the English team BRAYWOOD BEAVEERS who has the official in charge, Allan Donaldson, a Maatese mother and an English father. It was very unfortunate that the team of foreigners playing in the Masters League in Malta did not continue after winning the first game. From a squad of eight, got injured including Drasko Baunovic (guest player) who has travelled to Malta from Montenegro. Another star player injured was Brnaco Nisevic,
MALTA MASTERS with National coach Charles Agiuss again impressed and recieved a lot of praise. They were excellent and the real masters winning their three games. The team from Gozo also left a good impression. Malta had also Massimo Schembri finishing as top scorer and Carlo Mamo chosen as best player. Mario Meli, President of the association, presented the trophies to all the teams at the end.

CHAMPIONS LOSE FIRST GAME
In the meantime play continued in both leagues. In the Premier Division we had the surprise of champions MARSA WHITE STARS, lose their first game. Although we may call it a surprise, RABAT MAHMAT played well and deserved what they got. After being in arrears 3-0in thefirst half, they improved a lot after the break, scoring four to register their first win.
From division one MOSTA SHAGGY kept marching on beating TARGA GAP 5-2. They are one of the favourite teams to win promotion to the Premier Division.
