A repeat of the recent hotly contested Premier League match between Hibernians and Valletta is on the card near the end of this month as both teams were drawn to face each other once again, this time in an FA Trophy quarterfinal.

It is to be recalled that the League match was characterised by several controversial decisions which also led to the Paolites lodging a protest which was heard on Monday evening, but was not upheld by the MFA Protests Board.

The draw pitted the two top favourites against each other making it look more or less like the final of the competition.

It gives Hibernians the chance to taste revenge over their rivals, and therefore it is expected to be tough for the holders, Valetta, to maintain their hold on the Trophy.

The other top clubs, that is, Gzira U., Birkirkara and Balzan face relatively easier games.

Birkirkara were drawn to face Mosta who eliminated another favourite – Sliema Wanderers – in the last round, while Gzira take on Pieta Hotspurs and Balzan meet Tarxien Rainbows.

In the previous round, Gzira defeated Melita 4-2, while Balzan defeated Xewkija Tigers 6-1. Their opponents, Tarxien, registered and easy 5-0 win against Zebbug Rangers.

The draw

Mosta v Birkirkara

Hibernians  v Valletta

Tarxien R. v Balzan

Pieta H. V. Gzira U.

The matches are to be played in the weekend of 23 and 24 February.
