Zebbug recovered from the setback of the protests board decision earlier in the afternoon, by crushing Naxxar Lions after a solid and polished display. Naxxar fizzled pout after suffering two quick goals, and received the deadly blow on 29 minutes when they went down to ren men.

After a very slow start Zebbug took full control of the match when they scored two quick goals in the space of sixty seconds. These goals stunned the Lions and to make matters worse for Naxxar they were reduced to ten men on the half hour when Ryan Mercieca was shown a straight red for a nasty tackle in midfield.

Matters did not improve much for Naxxar in the second half as Zebbug added further goals in the early stages through a Caetano da Silva penalty and a Ryan Micallef strike, and on the hour Naxxar scored a consolation goal through a Jurgen Debono penalty.

Gudja tightened their grip on the second spot in the standings with a rather easy victory over bottom of the table side Marsa. The match was a one way traffic affair with Marsa always on the receiving end with their goalkeeper Brincat in outstanding form.

Ironically Marsa had the first golden chance through Gatt De Raffaele, but then it was all Gudja especially after Miguel Attard’s opener on the half hour. Bondin doubled the score just before the break with a powerful header.

In the second half it was a training spin for Mansueto’s boys who could have added further goals, but had to wait till six minutes from time to score a great goal from Jackson Lima direct from a corner kick.
