Referee: Sandro Spiteri

Scorers: Erjon Beu 22' 32' pen (L), Igor Rocha de Souza 44' (Z)

Albanian striker Erjon Beu scored a brace, one from the penalty spot, for Lija Athletic, to give his side a victory over the ever improving Zebbug side.

It was an entertaining match especially in the first half, between two of the most in-form sides at the moment. Both teams are lying pretty in the middle of the table and yesterday they confirmed this with an entertaining match.

In the second half the match was less intense, but both had their chances and the match could have gone either way.

Mqabba-San Gwann                    2-1

Mqabba: F. Tabone, R. da Silva Gomes, D. Micallef, J.C. Martins (L. Suma 84'), G. Micallef, A. Ferreira, W. Borg, D. Azzopardi, F. Gusman (L. Meli 89'), C. Cutajar (L. Farrugia 73'), N. Micallef.

San Gwann; C. Formosa, R. Zammit, A. Cachia, C. Stewart, A. Borg (J.P. Attard 65'), C. Gauci, K. Gatt, J. Tanti, S. Hili, N. Melo Ferreira (N. Abouhaisa 65'), R. de Oliveira (P. Kanzurov 65').

Referee: Stefan Pace

Scorers: David Azzopardi 28' (M), Alexsandro Ferreira 30' (M), Sergio Hili 80' pen (SG)

Mqabba scored two quick goals arount the 30th minute of the game to beat lowly San Gwann and return to winning ways after two successive defeats.

The defeats leaves San Gwann in a desperate position in the lower part of the table, and their prospects of avoiding the drop are becoming slimmer.

San Gwann had two penalties, one in each half, but missed the first one, which proved to be costly.

Marsa-Qrendi                   2-3

Marsa: K. Brincat, S. Zampa, J. Bonello, J. Lovegrove, J. Theuma (L. Ciantar 72'), R. Gatt de Raffaele, S. Briffa, O. Cristiani, H. Kawamura, A. Watanabe, R. Gafa.

Qrendi: J. Farrugia, D. Micallef, B.n Bondin, M. Busuttil, C. Caruana, D. Sammut (K. Abela 51'), M. Barbara (L. Brincat 46'), J. Spiteri, J.P. da Silva Vargas, C. Quaranta (D. Maartini 90'), J. Silveira da Silva.

Referee: Slobodan Petrovic

Scorers: Daryl Micallef 23' (Q), Hieyuki Kawamura 24' 49' (M), Luca Brincat 62' (Q), Jonathan Silveira Da Silva 81' (Q)

Qrendi had to fight till the bitter end to beat bottom of the table and already relegated side Marsa by the odd goal in five.

Marsa played one of their best games lately but still ended on the receiving end, but the performance should give them hope for their future next season in Division Two.

On the other hand the victory could prove to be fundamental if not decisive for Qrendi as they have now opened a four-point lead  over San Gwann with only three matches remaining.
