A man who allegedly raped a carer in an old people’s home on Sunday has been suspended from work, the Parliamentary Secretary for Persons with Disability and Active Ageing, Anthony Agius Decelis said.

The police are investigating a report that a 23-year-old cleaner who works at an elderly home in Mtarfa had been raped by a colleague on Sunday.

Decelis said that, following the report, the man who allegedly attacked the carer was suspended and is not allowed at the facility.

Decelis explained that the matter is now in the hands of the police. “We wish to provide all the support necessary for the victim of abuse, and that the rest of the process is controlled and handed by the police.”
