A Brazilian teenager is in serious condition after he found himself in difficulty while swimming, the police said.
The accident took place in Balluta Bay, St Julian’s, at 3pm.
The teenager was helped ashore by another swimmer and an ambulance was called.
He was taken to hospital for treatment.
Magistrate Rachel Montebello is leading an inquiry.
