A man is in hospital with serious injuries after hitting his head while jumping off a boat, the police said.

The accident took place in St George’s Bay, St Julian’s, at 6am.

District Police went on site where preliminary investigations showed that a 24-year-old French man had hit his head against the boat while trying to jump into the sea,

The man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for medical assistance and was later certified as suffering from serious injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing; a magisterial inquiry by Duty Magistrate Dr Y. Micallef Stafrace LLD was also appointed.
