'Maltese Festa Series III' Stamp Issue

MaltaPost just issued the third series of stamps depicting titular statues found in various churches around Malta and Gozo. This issue features the following processional statues: St Publius in Floriana, St Philip in Żebbuġ, St Catherine in Żejtun, St John the Baptist in Xewkija, St Andrew in Luqa, the Annunciation of Our Lady in Balzan, St Venera in Santa Venera, Our Lady of Pompei in Marsaxlokk, St. Lawrence in Birgu and Our Lady of Grace in Żabbar.

The issue consists of 900,000 stamps and carry a face value of €0.28 each. Photography by Mark Micallef Perconte. The stamps are available from all Post Offices in Malta and Gozo.

"We all know how much the Maltese have love the Maltese Festa, so we have taken the initiative to create a beautiful publication of stamps and postcards showing the processional statues. This issue was received very well by both collectors, as well as those who have the cultural heritage close to their hearts. The statues are all heritage of our ancestors and have unique historical value. Through this publication we feel that we are giving something back to the Maltese that can be appreciated by the future generations" said Mary Grace Simpson, Head of Philately.
