The Nationalist Party has 24,000 members, with 1,700 joining the party in the last year, the largest amount in 13 years, PN leader Adrian Delia said on Tuesday.

Speaking in Balzan, Delia said party members were the foundation on which the PN is built and are an essential part of the process for the party to adjourn its policies. The PN is the only alternative to the current administration, and anyone with fresh ideas who wants to contribute to the party is welcome to join.

Members are the party’s messengers among the people, and must defend the PN’s message when the government tries to spin it. “The PN does not have the government’s money to market itself and I am asking you to deliver the message,” he said. “More and more people are today realising that the wealth being generated is not distributed among all, and the economy is benefiting only the few.”

Delia said that most members carry out voluntary work within the PN structures without expecting anything back. He said his wish is for more people to join the party as members so that the party’s message would be able to reach more and more people. “I appeal to you who want cleaner air, who want to stop the destruction of the environment, who want to fight against a corrupt government, who want justice, and who want wealth to be distributed to all to join the PN.”
