Pembroke turned defeat into victory in the first half to grab the first points of the seaon leaving the side from Cottonera with no points at the bottom of the table. Vittoriosa dominated the first 25 minutes, but Pembroke had a good reaction scoring two great goals to claim victory in an otherwise balanced affair.
Vittoriosa dominated the first portion of the first half with Guerrero and Farias a headache for the Pembroke rearguard. After some near misses the Stars took a deserved lead when Farias was brought down by Vujovic inside the area and from the penalty spot Guerrero made no mistake.
Slowly but surely Pembroke made their way back in the game and drew level on 36 minutes with Oliveira Santos impressive on the left flank, passing low towards Luka Mijic who easily slotted home from close range.
Just before the break Pembroke took the lead with a breath taking goal score by Neil Frendo from well over 35 meters. A bombshell that rocketed in the top corner.
The second half was less intense with Vittoriosa always on the offensive. They had a couple of chances but Pembroke goalkeeper Schranz was always on the alert to preserve his side's precious victory.
