Watch: Teachers dress up in The Lion King costumes to welcome kindergarten pupils

Tuesday, 1 October 2019, 12:03 Last update: about 6 years ago

For the third consecutive year, the San Ġwann Kindergarten opened its doors and welcomed the little ones with a great celebration.  The theme chosen for this year was inspired from the Disney film – The Lion King.

The teachers wore colourful costumes and danced to the Hakuna Matata and other songs on this very special day of school.  Usually, this first day is characterised by a flood of emotions but such a special welcome managed to put a smile of everybody’s face.

After that, the pupils were led to their respective classrooms by passing through a beautifully made up "jungle".

The San Ġwann Kindergarten hosts around 200 students and is situated in a spacious setting next to the primary school.  This block, which was recently built, replaced the old building that nowadays is being used by the Breakfast Club team and Klabb 3-16 (after school hours).

Till last scholastic year, this part of school looked quite shabby and needed a lot of maintenance.

The head of school, David Mario Caruana, felt personally responsible to transform this area and to give it a drastic make over as it was not a decent place to accomodate students

A good number of activities were organised by the school staff and parents (on voluntary basis), including a Christmas Market and a Spring Fair in order to revamp this space.

Works included plastering, painting, curtains, new chairs, corridor panels – that were painted by the Headmaster himself and much more.
