Naxxar Lions and Qrendi provided a poor display yesterday in a scoreless encounter that kept both happy at the end of the ninety minutes. Both should and could offer more as they are both in the top positions after runaway leaders Lija.
Naxxar held more of the ball and had a slight edge over their opponents, but in the end the result was a fair one, a result that keeps the Lions still unbeaten so far thei season.
Naxxar had two near misses in the first half through Darren Falzon and Joel Ellul, and on the other end a Nilsson effort hit the side netting.
On the resumption Qrendi goalkeeper Zarb saved a Jurgen Debono freekick and Dhonattan Santos Da Hora was rather menacing for Qrendi in the counter breaks.

Brazilian striker Lucas Caetano scored a brace yesterday to keep Pieta flying high as thet now moved to second place in the standings. It was a balanced affair, but Caetano did all the difference as he scored two great goals with solo actions to give Pieta the precious victory over a possible rival for the promotion race.
Caetano scored after barely five minutes play with a good run on the left and a perfect finish low into the net. The Saints were however in the match and drew level on 19 minutes with promising Luke Anthony Borg finishing a great move with a scorcher from the edge of the area.
In the second half St. Andrew's had more of the ball but on 68 minutes Caetano decided the match with another great goal this time from the right and from an almost impossible angle. Four minutes later the Saints were rather unlucky when a Reid header finished against the crossbar.

Swieqi United defeated Pembroke Athleta with the odd goal in three in a keenly contested derby. Swieqi' hero was Roderick Taliana who scored his side's goals as the win puts Swieqi on the seven-point mark, joining the same Pembroke.
On 16 minutes Swieqi took the lead when a Salis header was partially saved by Schranz and from the rebound Talian drilled the ball home. Half way through the second half Pembroke were reduced to ten men when Tyrone Fenech received a second booking.
Two minutes later Swieqi took advantage and doubled the score again through Taliana with a precise grounder. Ten minutes from time Pembroke were unlucky when a Sultana shot hit the base of the upright.
Two minutes from time Pembroke pulled one back through striker Luka Mijic and in stoppage time Swieqi were also reduced to ten when Tejumola received the second yellow.
