Fgura beat Vittoriosa with a goal in each half to register their second victory of the season and leave the bottom of the table to their opponents yesterday Vittoriosa.

Much more was expected from the Stars especially after their triumphant derby victory in their last outing against St. George's, as they not only finished on the losing end and with nine players, but are now firmly at the bottom of the table.

 But yesterday Fgura were a span above their opponents and took a deserved lead on 20 minutes through Sergio Hili. In the second half Vittoriosa were more aggressive but on 70 minutes a free for all ensued after a ball was cleared off the goal line by a Vittoriosa defender, and Vittoriosa were reduced to nine men when Gianluca Sultana and Irvin Abela were sent off.

Fgura scored a second goal ten minutes later to seal the issue and grab the second win of the season.

Leeroy Bonett scored a brace inside the first thirteen minutes of the game to lead his side St.George’s to an important victory over high flying Pieta.

Pieta were fresh from three successive wins and were in second place behind runaway leaders Lija. But yesterday St. George’s still bruised after their dismal defeat in the derby against Vittoriosa, produced one of their best performance this season to obtain a well deserved victory.

Pieta were a pale shadow of the team that did so well so far this season. The goals suffered in the early stages did not help much and Pieta never recovered, with the Saints always in control of the match, finishing off with another good goal in stoppage time.
