A man was seriously injured after shots were fired in his direction in an incident in Ta’ Xbiex early on Saturday morning.

The police said the incident took place in Testaferrata Street at 2.10am.

The 44-year-old Msida resident was given first assistance by a medical team before being taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

A man is being held by the police for questioning.

Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech is leading an inquiry.
