Qrendi moved to the second place in the standings after beating Zebbug thanks to a Calvin Camilleri first half goal. Zebbug were fresh from their derby victory against Qormi, but yesterday they failed to keep their momentum and had to leave the pitch empty handed.

It was a balanced affair and a draw would have been a fairer result, but Zebbug missed a penalty in the second half, an episode which proved to be vital for the final outcome.

Qrendi scored the winner on 26 minutes when Camilleri fired home a Nilsson cross, and half way through the second half Zebbug missed a glorious opportunity to level matters when Muda Fagbeja failed to beat Zarb from the penalty spot.
