Holders Balzan were yesterday drawn to meet Second Division side San Gwann when the draws were made yesterday at the Trophies Lounge in the Millennium Stand at the National Stadium.

In last season's final, Balzan had defeated Valletta on penalties after a highly entertaining and well contested match which had ended 4-4 after 90 minutes.

There are three all Premier club matches in the third round draw. These are Gzira-Senglea, Sliema-Santa Lucia and Tarxien R.-Hamrun S.

The top six clubs in last year's Premier League were all seeded in the third round draw. These were Balzan, Hibernians, Gzira, Valletta, Sliema and Hamrun.

Apart from the six seeded clubs all the others taking part in this season's Premier League - Birkirkara, Floriana, Gudja, Mosta, Santa Lucia, Senglea, Sirens and Tarxien R. - are also included.

The remaining teams from the smaller divisions who advanced from the first and second rounds are first division sides Lija Athletic, Mqabba, Pembroke Athleta, Pieta H., Qormi, St Andrews, Swieqi U., Zebbug R. and Zejtun Corinthians.

Teams remaining from the second division are Melita, Mgarr U., Rabat Ajax, San Gwann and Zabbar St Patrick. No teams hail from the third division, but four clubs from the Gozo Football Association also advanced to the third round draw. These are Kercem A, Nadur Y., Victoria H. and Xewkija T.
