The police discovered 53 dead birds in a Mosta shop and a number of other stuffed birds in a residence in the same locality.

A police statement said that a man carrying an eagle was noticed entering a shop in Guzeppi Callus Street at about noon today.

The police raided the shop to discover the 53 dead birds in a freezer at the back of the building. The birds included eagles, storks and ducks.

Officers later conducted a search at the shop owner’s residence and stuffed birds were discovered.

A 32-year-old man from Mosta is helping the police in their investigations.
