Updated - Watch: Sea-water rises to flood Birzebbuga and Marsascala

Monday, 11 November 2019, 14:37 Last update: about 5 years ago

Drivers this morning were forced to drive on the wrong side of the road in Birzebbuga to avoid the deeper end of flooding (see video)

Residents of the area - Ste George's Street - said that the flooding is caused by sea-water, when the tide is high.

They said that "we have been in this situation for years", but although complaints have been raised, nothing has been done to find a solution.

"Cars are always soaked in sea water," one resident said. This causes damage to both the body and the engine.

The sea-water level has also risen in Marsascala, as can be seen in pictures below.
