A magisterial inquiry has been launched after the death of an elderly man in a community home in Marsascala, the government said.

The parliamentary secretariat for the elderly was informed about the death this morning.

The death was reported at the St Thomas Community Living, a private home where the government pays for 76 beds.

Apart from the inquiry, the Social Standards Authority is also carrying out an investigation.

The statement did not say the cause of death and other private details of the individual were not provided.
